Let's face facts, Rockstar are better know for their frenetic criminal antics then their racing games. Having said that, the Midnight Club series has carved out a niche for itself, and with it a nice-sized fan base. This is by far the best Midnight Club game to date, however, for me it is still a poor man's Burnout Paradise.

As for the plot; yer some "east coast punk" trying to make a name for himself in the underground racing scene. Oh dear.  Graphically, Los Angeles is mapped out beautifully. The city is transformed into a fantastic sandbox with an astounding level of detail. Building renders right down to the bus-stops seem to be placed with pinpoint accuracy.  The control setup is a tad quirky, with the default being to use the right analogue stick to control the accelerator which takes a little bit of getting used to.

Honestly there is nothing wrong with Midnight Club LA, it just feels a bit like GTA with the fun removed.
