First announced back at this year's E3, this week sees the release of our first glimpse at the gameplay to be found within Mad Max. With next year seeing Tom Hardy replacing Mel Gibson as the anti-hero for the series' return to the big screen in Mad Max: Fury Road, it looks likely the folk at Warner Brothers are wanting this to be their next big franchise.

From what we can see here, it looks like we'll have the do anything open world from the likes of the Just Cause series (which developers Avalance Studios also made), mixed with the car carnage (CARnage?) of the Twisted Metal or Destruction Derby series. It also looks hella-violent, in case that's something you're looking for in a video game.

It also doesn't look like your regular video game from movie tie-in cash-in scenario, as Warner Bros know their way around a potential video game adaptation franchise - Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, anyone? - plus the character doesn't look a thing like Mel Gibson OR Tom Hardy, so it would appear to be an standalone entry into the character's franchise.

Due for release on the PS4 and Xbox One as well as some of the current systems, Mad Max is due to out some time in 2014, probably pretty close to the release of the movie.
