If there's one thing speedrunners love, it's a good challenge.

Challenges don't come bigger than FromSoftware's latest epic 'Elden Ring', and a speedrunner by the name of Distortion2 managed to beat the game in under 37 minutes.

Incredibly, Distortion 2 has already beaten the game multiple times, with the speedrunner managing to beat the game in under 50 minutes, posted the first sub-40 minute run, and managed to beat the game again.

The goal of speedrunning doesn't necessarily mean beating the game to full completion, and the aim with this specific speedrun was to reach the end credits.

Players can watch the speedrun below, and perhaps players can get some tips on how to finish the game from someone who's somehow beat the game 3 times already.

Speedrunning has become a popular part of video games over the last decade, with entire communities and competitions springing up around the practice.

Considering the game has been out for less than 2 weeks, people already beating speedrunning records for the game is incredibly impressive.

In our 5-star review for 'Elden Ring', we saluted the game for beautifully treading the needle between being incredibly difficult yet accessible to newcomers, and praised the combat system as the best yet in a FromSoftware game.

It's very likely this speedrunning record will be broken again in the near future, but the mere virtue that people are beating this legendary difficult game in under 40 minutes should provide some hope to those struggling with the bloody Tree Sentinel or Margit.
