Everyone and their dog has been playing 'Elden Ring' over the last few weeks, and Namco Bandai have the sales figures to prove it.

Per sales figures from publisher Namco Bandai, the game has sold a remarkable 12 million copies since its release on February 25th.

Namco say that sales figures represent both digital and physical copies of the game.

The game is the best-reviewed game of the decade so far - including our glowing 5-star review - and game director Hidetaka Miyazaki has thanked fans for making the game a success.

“It’s astonishing to see just how many people have been playing Elden Ring,” Miyazaki said. “I’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks on behalf of the entire development team," he added.

The blockbuster success of 'Elden Ring' also marks the biggest launch for an original IP in European markets since 'The Division' was launched in March 2016.

Sales were best on PC with PC representing 44% of total sales. PS5 follows with 27%, Xbox with 16%, and PS4 with 13%.

Bandai Namco president and CEO Yasuo Miyakawa said "much effort was placed into creating 'Elden Ring' so that we could exceed the expectations of our fans worldwide."

“In like manner, we will continue our efforts in expanding the brand beyond the game itself, and into everyone’s daily life.”

This quote from Miyakawa indicates that Bandai Namco see 'Elden Ring' as a new franchise, much in the same way 'Dark Souls' spawned a franchise in 2011.

Sales of 'Elden Ring' in the UK saw the biggest launch week sales for a non 'FIFA' or 'Call Of Duty' game since 'Red Dead Redemption 2' launched in 2018, and data from Steam indicates that the game is the 6th biggest-ever game on the service.

On launch weekend, over 950,000 players were playing concurrently on PC, which solidifies its status as one of the biggest games of the year.

The sky is the limit for how high 'Elden Ring' goes, as selling 12 million copies in less than a month is nothing short of sensastional.
