You know, some people think gamers take themselves too seriously. Poppycock! Without us, the world would surely implode or somesuch. Nevertheless, it's nice to see a shooter come out with its tongue planted firmly in its cheek. Not since Duke Nukem defecated down the neck of a giant alien lizard has a first-person shooter had the nerve to poke fun at itself.
Bad Company loosely follows the same plot as Kelly's Heroes. A bunch of misfit soldiers, sick and tired of being cannon fodder, decide to take matters into their own hands and steal a whole bunch of gold.
Maps are laid out sandbox-style, so you can make your assaults in any way you see fit. Weapons are plentiful, and the graphics are just lovely; but it's the sound that impresses most. I've never heard the like, it's just amazing - my jaw dropped the first time I fired my rifle, and my ears were virtually ringing. This level of sound brings a whole new atmosphere to the game, making you really feel like bullets are whizzing by your head.
I loved this game, simple as that!
