The hotly-anticipated 'Hogwarts Legacy' has been delayed until February 2023.
The open-world RPG is notable for not being based on the films, but instead tells an original story set in the 'Harry Potter' universe.
In a video from developers Avalanche Software, the team said the game wasn't quite ready for prime time, and as such, as such been pushed until February 10th, 2023.
"The team is excited for you to play, but we need a little more time to deliver the best possible game experience," said Chandler Wood, community manager on the game.
"You might be disappointed that the game has been pushed out of 2022, but we’re excited to finally give you a release date you can look forward to."
The game has already been delayed from a 2021 release date and had a November 2022 release date penciled in, but it won't see the light of day this year.
The game received a deep dive trailer earlier this year which set fan expectations high, but with the game moving out of the winter 2022 window this means the Christmas season will be fairly scant in terms of triple-AAA blockbusters.
'Starfield' was pushed until early next year, and with the departure of 'Hogwarts Legacy' from the 2022 calendar, this has set the stage for 'God Of War: Ragnarok' to become the hot gaming title people find under the Christmas tree this year.
Series creator J.K. Rowling is confirmed to have no involvement with the project, with an FAQ section on the website stating "J.K. Rowling is not directly involved in the creation of the game, however, her extraordinary body of writing is the foundation of all projects in the Wizarding World. This is not a new story from J.K. Rowling."
