Mermaid Arts Centre is excited to reveal that the theme of the Wicklow Film Festival 2019 is Turning Points. Originally founded by Wicklow artist Brigid O’Brien, this year’s festival is a collaboration between Mermaid Arts Centre and Noel Mac Aoidh, Head of Film Department at BIFE (Bray Institute of Further Education). Turning Points is an attempt to explore the transformative effect of cinema. Six film makers will each present a film that affected their lives and helped fashion their careers. Turning Points is about how these films changed/shaped the lives, careers and journeys of six film makers; Noel Mac Aoidh, Janna Kemperman, Kate McCullough, Sal Stapleton, Michael Donnelly and Karla Healion. Screenings will be accompanied by an engaging post-film discussion with the artists. Festival pass option: 6 films for €26.
