Between Your Love and Mine is a requiem, written by Leonard Cohen in the summer of 2016. It's a requiem for young people and is directed and arranged by John MacKenna, a friend of Cohen's for 34 years.
It was described by President Michael D Higgins, after its Culture Night performance in Áras an Uachtaráin in 2017, as a show "of sheer beauty and integrity." With a five piece band; six singers and two actors, Between Your Love and Mine is a requiem Mass for stage - deeply moving and beautifully dramatic, an exploration in words and music of loss, grief and hope. The requiem will play the Hawks Well in Sligo - one of only six venues in Ireland - on September 28th, a week after its NCH performance.
