New Yorker Michael Kanan is one of the top rated pianists on the international scene. There are good reasons why. He has played with Lee Konitz, Tal Farlow, Al Cohn and worked alongside Kurt Rosenwinkel, Nat Su, Mark Turner and Jorge Rossy. Michael hails from Boston, where he first began to play the piano at age 7, and by the age of 10 he was listening to jazz. In 1996, he joined the band of legendary singer Jimmy Scott, and in 2001, he became the accompanist and arranger for celebrated vocalist Jane Monheit. Completing the trio with Michael will be Conor Murray (bass) and David Lyttle (drums). This will be Michael’s first time touring in Ireland.
