The event centres on the occupation by students of the administration block at the university’s Earslfort Terrace building in February 1969, followed by ten days of seminars and discussions during what was in effect a general strike by the 10,000 students at the university. UCD Belfield will host a discussion in which three activists from the period will talk about the events, and about the spirit of protest and desire for social change which motivated them. They will be joined by present-day law student and activist Amy Crean, who will talk about the mood and outlook of her generation.
