To celebrate World Space Week, Astronomy Ireland is delighted to present a Public Lecture by NASA Scientist Jose GROH "When Giant Stars Go BANG!" which will be held which will be held on Monday (October 14th, 2019) in the Fitzgerald Building, Trinity College Dublin. When a giant star, perhaps a million times brighter that the Sun, runs out of nuclear fuel in its core the most violent explosion in the universe occurs - a supernova. As the star goes "BANG!" it may release a billion times more energy than the Sun. The dead core of the star may be a super dense neutron star, or even a black hole. Former NASA scientist, originally from Brazil and now leading the astrophysics group at Trinity College Dublin, Prof Jose GROH will explain all this and more in our October Public lecture in Dublin that is also available to pre-order on DVD for everyone in the 32 counties.
