Hang Tough Contemporary is delighted to announce ʻMemorizà', a stunning collection of new paintings from one of our ʻOpen Call 2021ʼ winners Zsolt Basti.
Zsolt Basti is a Hungarian painter living in Ireland since 2005. His practice explores fleeting intimate memories, provoked by vague sensations. Through his paintings he examines the relationship between reality and memory. He constructs abstract scenes using primarily personal subjects, allowing him to access this interior world.
ʻMemorizáʼ is a show about the relationship between reality and memory. Through the medium of paint, Basti recollects flashbacks from his childhood to present-day which are unique and significant to him. He captures the memories, which are provoked by vague sensations, and alter them in ways that change his perception of his own experiences.
