From his birth in a black ghetto in Montgomery, Alabama, Nat Cole had to fight racial prejudice. Although he was thrilling audiences all across the United States with his brilliant piano playing and his smooth, satin voice, he had to use the “coloureds only” facilities and frequently could not stay in the hotels in which he was performing. But that golden voice made him a star! A series of hit records, Rambling Rose, Unforgettable, Mona Lisa, Too Young and Nature Boy brought his fame all around the world and he became a beacon of hope for dozens of other black artistes. He was also the first black performer to host his own show on coast-to-coast television. Join our Sunday Songbook team as they bring you Unforgettable, the thrilling story of Nat “King” Cole’s fight against bigotry, and brings you a score and more of his best-loved singalong songs. A very special guest for Nat King Cole: Unforgettable will be Conor O’Shea (a.k.a The Loungeman). Conor O’Shea is a perfect choice to join The Everyman Sunday Songbook team, he even sounds like Nat.
