The Virginia Pumpkin Festival takes place in Virginia, Co. Cavan on the October Bank Holiday Weekend, 2014. It offers six days and nights of spooky fun and entertainment for all the family.
Events include a haunted forest walk, a children's fancy dress party, puppet shows, street theatre, craft workshops for children, an artisan food and craft fair, a walking treasure hunt, art exhibitions, drama, magic shows, tractor building and balancing, street entertainment and live music day and night. One of the highlights of the festival will be a grand carnival parade on Sunday afternoon followed by a spectacular fireworks display over the shores of Lough Ramor.
Don't miss Ireland's largest fancy dress ball, with over 2,000 people in fancy dress in the Pumpkin Dome, it is a spectacular sight. Another highlight is the Giant Irish Pumpkin Weigh-Off where pumpkin growers compete for the top prize with pumpkins as large as 50 stone (700lbs)! On top of all that there will also be a pumpkin fringe festival, a family fun run for charity, events for teens, 'perfect pumpkin' competitions and pumpkin carving events.
With all this going on, and set in an easily accessible location, the Virginia Pumpkin Festival should not be missed!
