New Work, an exhibition of oils and pastels by Victor Richardson, will open at the Lavit Gallery on Tuesday 5th May at 8pm. Victor will give a brief talk about his work on the night. Victor Richardson works primarily in pastels, but is also renowned for his oils. For this exhibition he has amassed a new body of work featuring still-lifes, nature studies, interiors and landscapes executed in his trademark exquisitely lavish, detailed and Pointillistic style. Victor Richardson was born in Belfast in 1952, but has lived in County Cork since 1974, except for brief periods in England and France. His current studio is in a two hundred year old gate lodge near Riverstick. He first exhibited in Cork in 1976 and was associated for many years with The Cork Craftsman's Guild. He has shown with the Lavit Gallery since 1980 and this exhibition is his seventh solo show with the gallery. Victor has exhibited extensively throughout Ireland, the UK and America. His work appears in many public and private art collections including AIB; Central Bank; Conrad International Hotel, Dublin; Allied Irish Finance Centre, London; Walt Disney World Company as well as many others. For the last twenty five years, Richardson has been represented by galleries in Ireland, England and America, most notably the Solomon Gallery in Dublin from 1984 until its closure last year. He is now represented by Jorgensen Fine Art.
