Winner of twelve Tony Awards, Mel Brooks' hilarious and irreverent musical romp "The Producers" is set to make its Dublin première this April at the Gaiety Theatre, courtesy of the critically acclaimed Rathmines & Rathgar (R&R) Musical Society. The story of the show is simple. Broadway producer Max Bialystock is down on his luck. With his shows frequently closing on opening night and being critically mauled, he longs for a return to his glory days, and for more money in the bank. But he never expects to find his saviour in the form of a mousy accountant named Leo Bloom who stumbles across Max's meal ticket to riches "...a producer could actually make more money with a flop than he can with a hit!" So can they really make a fortune from a flop? They certainly try, with the worst show ever written – "Springtime for Hitler". What follows is a litany of disasters that takes the Producers from Broadway to prison, via Rio de Janeiro, and all the way back to Broadway again. The show will run for a limited engagement, from April 28th to May 9th inclusive. Ticket prices range from €15 - €40.
