Exclusive to Choice Cuts, in association with www.deafireland.com, Germany's Poets of Rhythm take the headline slot this October Bank Holiday weekend at Andrew's Lane Theatre. With their African, Middle Eastern and Asian rhythms combined with their unparalleled brand soulful funk and jazz, the Poets made a remarkable impact on the Deep Funk scene with their influential album releases Practice What You Preach and Discern/Define. Daedelus, aka Alfred Darlington, is an IDM and electronica producer and member of the groups Adventure Time and The Long Lost. Chopping and splicing disparate acoustic sources with childlike arrangements from the 30's and 40's, he has refined a style that has no imitators. Hip-hop producer Steinski achieved notoriety in the early 1980s for a series of sample-based collages known as the Lessons, which are still well-regarded today as early underground hip-hop classics and proved highly influential for subsequent artists such as De La Soul, Coldcut, DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist. With these three sensational acts, plus support from Choice Cuts DJs, there's something there for everybody, from old-school funk, to electro, to cut-ups. Admission €22. Doors 7.30pm-2.30am.
