Queens of musical comedy The Nualas will have you laughing your socks off, hiccupping and clutching your sides when they hit Set Theatre on 23rd October. The original Nualas formed in 1995 over their shared love of food, comedy, and singing (none of them are actually called Nuala, but don’t let that put you off!). After starting out in Dublin’s renowned Comedy Cellar, the girls went on to tour nationally and internationally, playing six total-sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and performing in the Royal Albert Hall. The ‘wackily original’ (New York Times) trio re-formed in 2011 to delighted audiences in Dublin’s Vicar Street, and have barely paused for breath since.
The Nualas take to the stage in crazy outfits and sky-high heels to “send-up […] every sugar-coated value we cherish” (The Irish Times) with beautiful vocals and witter banter. “Simply stunning. Bloody brilliant, in fact.” In Dublin Magazine. “Phenomenally funny.” The Herald. “Feckin’ great.” The Village Voice.
