The Hollywood Fair is a Community run festival taking place over five days in August. It is themed on pre-1950's rural life in Ireland, when people had to be self-reliant. Highlights include a traditional sheep fair, period food stalls, a Céile house and dancing at the Crossroads, a Forge and Horse shoeing exhibition, steam engines, craft stalls, history enactments, open air traditional music, sheepdog trials and the cooking of colcannon, to name just a few. The Hollywood Fair is making a significant contribution to the quality of life of the people in the community and hinterland as it has increased voluntary activity. It has opened up the cul-de-sac village of Hollywood as a place not only famous for its many films that were made there (such as Braveheart, Michael Collins, King Arthur and recently part of the TV Series Quirke).
The Hollywood Fair has something for everyone, it is the chance to step back in time and re-live how everyday life was like. Entry fee is just €2.
