The amazing 16th century Spanish Armada story is vividly portrayed in this spectacular new Celtic music/dance show. The 60 piece orchestra features musicians and dancers from Galicia and Ireland for the Dublin Première of Michael Rooney’s acclaimed 2011 composition ‘ The De Cuellar Suite‘.
The suite follows the story of the Armada voyage from Spain to the naval battles in the English channel and to their perilous passage north around Scotland and Ireland. Michael Rooney’s amazing score is augmented by a short narrative and stunning choreography.
The suite is comprised of 11 short movements reflecting Galician, Irish, and Scottish traditional music rhythms.
