Since 1998 the Kilkenny Roots Festival has been bringing the very best in Roots music to Ireland and has featured many acts that have gone on to worldwide fame. Ryan Adams, Calexico, Ray LaMontagne and Alabama Shakes are just some of the artists that have made their Irish debut at the festival and 2013 promises to be just as exciting for music fans.
Americana, folk, blues, rockabilly and bluegrass will all feature on the programme with over 80 shows in 30 venues throughout the medieval city and over 60 of them are free!
Audiences and performers mingle together throughout the city in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The city will come alive to the sounds of bands and solo artists from the USA, Canada, the UK and Ireland, prompting Mojo Magazine to declare that 'Kilkenny Roots might just be the best pound for pound festival of its kind anywhere'.
