The Sligo Live festival is back this October bank holiday weekend with a line-up jam packed with talent. Ireland's premier roots festival has garnered a reputation for attracting top talent and this year is no exception. This year's headliners include the likes of Orchestra Baobab, Tom Baxter, Sly and Robbie and the wonderful Cathy Davey. This year's festival kicks off with World Music artists and one of Africa's great iconic bands, Orchestra Baobab,creators of one of the world's most sublime and truly distinctive sounds. Continuing the theme of world music is Le Vent du Nord from Quebec, a four piece whose high energy take on traditional Quebecoise music is guaranteed to fill any dance floor. They are unstoppable and are famed at roots gatherings for their vibrant, energetic and passionate performance. The festival will include a full programme of free fun events all the family can enjoy. In addition many of Sligo's pubs will exude a fleadh-like atmosphere with the very successful free traditional music sessions throughout the weekend complemented by instrumental master-classes and the celebrated Fiddler of Dooney competition.
