Shorelines Arts Festival is a celebration of the arts locally with an art exhibition that in 2013 will host national art pieces as well as local artists, sculptors and photographers. All age groups and community groups are catered for from street theatre with pavement art, sand art and entertainment for families to Shorelines Sessions in Portumna Retirement Village.

Concerts, readings and music in Portumna's Christ Church creates a wonderful ambience. Plans for 2013 include a reading from poet and writer, Paul Durcan. A community project will commence early in the year resulting in an outdoor collaborative textile art display on Portumna Bridge as a welcome to those crossing the Shannon, returning home as part of The Gathering. People living away from Portumna can contribute their work to the project.

The 3rd Lines By Heart Recitation Competition will take place - open to all who recite a poem off by heart, written pre-1937. Drama and readings, music and poetry will take place in venues like Portumna Castle & the Irish Workhouse Centre. Schools will take part in a writing project in both poetry and prose and writing, art and music workshops are planned for all age groups. Other events include a Book Brunch, Pub Limerick Competition and much more.
