Belfast Exposed is presenting Zadoc Nava’s photographic series Shadowlands shot on the streets of Tehran, alongside his short film House of Strength, which offers a rare glimpse into the hidden world of Persian martial arts.

At the exhibition opening we will also launch a fully illustrated book of Nava’s photographic work, just published by Black Dog Publishing and including essays by David Bate and Amna Malik.

Shadowlands reveals a glimpse of ordinary life on the streets of Tehran; the separate but parallel existence of men and women within Iranian society, the tension between modernity and tradition, and an atmosphere of disquiet and uncertainty.
