In 1914 the epiphany that awoke the world’s imagination to the battered yet tumultuous city of Dublin, her streets, and her people, was a modest book of short stories that would become a defining Irish classic, James Joyce’s Dubliners.

Read Dubliners by Bike is a guided bicycle tour that invites you to tour the streets, pubs and historic buildings in which Joyce set his classic stories, whilst you listen to his stories on headphones in situ, as they are told and performed for you by a large ensemble cast led by the celebrated Irish actor Barry Mc Govern.

Lead by Dubliners’ director Alice Coghlan, in collaboration with See Dublin by Bike, this three hour (followed by lunch) bicycle tour guides the Joycean enthusiast across his city, from his adolescent years in North Richmond Street, to The Boarding House of Hardwicke Street, to An Encounter in Ringsend, to Eveline at the North Wall Station, and finally to the Temple Bar of Counterparts.

Our bicycle tour tickets also include a currant bun with the boys of An Encounter at Dublin Port, and later on, a hearty lunch of traditional Dubliner’s Coddle and a glass of porter at Farringtons of Temple Bar, the historical pub of Counterparts. As Farringtons will explain, this cask porter is especially brewed for Bloomsweek, so that it is just like the ‘gp’ Mr Farrington so enjoys during Joyce’s classic story.

Early booking is advised as our numbers are strictly limited.

NOTE: People need to the meet 15 minutes before to collect their bicycle and MP3 Player
