The Ranelagh Arts Festival commences on 23rd September. As with previous years, a totally voluntary committee has once again outdone itself producing a festival programme that will entertain and stimulate.  This year, the emphasis is on the village, with loads of events around Ranelagh, making the festival hard to ignore. Walking tours, cycling tours, comedy circuits, an art exhibition that will loop around the village, street art and a magnificent engine puffing away on the Triangle - you are going to see plenty of activity. Thanks to Dublin City Council, the Family Fun Day and Children's Pirates Parade to Ranelagh Gardens will make an even bigger impact than in previous years. Children of all ages are encouraged to get the old pirate costume down from the attic and join in the festivities. Resident cultural groups, the Cullenswood Singers and the Ranelagh Players, have magnificent productions. And Helen Dillon once again opens her beautiful garden. A very special visitor this year is Magnum photographer Martin Parr. Sports fans will enjoy David Scott's lecture on The Art and Aesthetics of Boxing and an event on racing will be held in a bookmakers. The Cinemobile and Minicinefest return to Sandford Park School. The festival runs from 23rd to 28th September and details of the individual events are available at www.ranelagharts.ie.
