In 2012 the town of Clonakilty, held the world's first Random Acts of Kindness Festival. This unique event brought both locals and visitors together for one special weekend. The festival celebrated, encouraged and showcased the kindness, the spirit and the welcoming nature not just of Clonakilty but of the Irish people. The festival in 2013 will incorporate The Gathering and will be bigger and better!

All events will be fun, free and for all ages. Everyone can get involved! Some of the major events of the festival include a street party with a bubble blowing ceremony and local musicians, a kid's sports day, historical tours, a speakers' corner, a voluntary organisations' showcase, street performances and a BBQ, all in the spirit of kindness.

Kindness zones are set up around the town where small token gifts (cinema tickets, brownies, yogurts and lots more) are handed out to lucky passers-by. A free raffle is held for all those who sign a pledge to carry out some Random Acts of Kindness in the community.

In 2013 new events include short morning workshops on conversational Gaeilge. There will be Gaeilge zones where participants can utilise their new skills and some basic GAA skills workshops for overseas attendees.

Cut the misery, spread the positivity! 2013 dates to be confirmed.
