Ireland 2012.

A crowd gather at the eviction of a neighbour.

A mother waits for her son to return home.

A social worker brings his work home.

A commercial lending team consider foreclosing on a struggling client.

A meals-on-wheels volunteer has an unexpected encounter.

In ‘RACKET’ five apparently unconnected stories of contemporary Irish life by five new writers are brought to the stage of the Boys School, Smock Alley by Scarlet Exchange. From these seemingly mundane stories of ordinary people’s lives, hope and decency unexpectedly emerge.

‘RACKET’ brings together an ensemble cast of exciting acting talent in short, powerful and memorable pieces which together deliver an enjoyable and challenging evening of theatre.

Scarlet Exchange is a theatre company based in Dublin. We set up in 2009 after meeting on a Fishamble Playwriting course. Currently there are five members: Robert Barrett, Padraig Denihan, Jonathan Duignan, Helen Ryan and Tracy Ryan.
