The Shorelines Arts Festival, and its umbrella organisation Portumna Arts Group, exists to foster the Arts in the community and the surrounding area of Lough Derg and the Slieve Aughties. The Festival hope to encourage and support local artists as well as bringing guest artists to the area. Celebrating the arts in all its various forms with a particular emphasis on literature, visual arts, drama and music/song, the Shorelines Arts Festival also hosts workshops and opportunities to all groups within the local community to develop their imagination through art, music, drama etc.
A particular highlight of the 2013 festival was the inaugural art exhibition in The Gallery at the Workhouse. This will become a permanent art exhibition space for visiting art exhibitions and local artistic talks, workshops and amateur exhibitions.
Seeking creative nourishment and artistic discovery in the idyllic surroundings of Portumna and Lough Derg, and are working closely with artists to create and curate inspiring programmes and events for an ever-widening Festival community and look forward to an even bigger festival in 2014.
