Nire Valley Comeragh Mountains 20th Annual Autumn Walking Festival is arguably one of the longest running walking festivals in the country with the inaugural event first staged in 1993.

The festival is based in the Nire Valley, Co. Waterford and registration for all walks takes place in the old schoolhouse beside the Nire Church. There is such a variety of natural beauty in the Nire Valley and the Comeragh Mountains from its awesome corrie lakes, to the valleys and the cascading streams, and the walks are designed to take in most of the highlights.

In all approximately 10 walks are scheduled to take place with the weekend's activities kicking off with an information evening on Friday where details of all walks are explained together with a talk on local history/geography. On both Saturday & Sunday a variety of walks are scheduled which cater for all levels of fitness. The walks are graded A level (7 hours), B+ level (6 hours), B level (5 hours), C level (4 hours) and Family (3 hours).

The festival dinner takes place on Saturday evening and in recent years it has become a highlight in itself as a showcase for local traditional music and dance talent, and a venue for walkers to mingle and catch up on the day's events.
