West Cork Music announced today that Nicola Benedetti will not be appearing at the West Cork Chamber Music Festival which opens on Friday 28 June. Due to ill health, the Scottish violinist has had to pull out of this year's event.

Festival organisers have said that they will make an announcement soon with details on who will be replacing her in the two concerts she was due to play at 4pm on Sunday 30 June and 8pm on Monday 1 July. However, Ioana Petcu-Colan will be replacing Nicola for a performance of Brahms' String Sextet in B-flat on Thursday 4 July at 8pm and Tchaikovsky's String Sextet in D minor on Friday 5 July at 8pm.

The Jupiter Quartet's journey to Ireland from the United States has been delayed by bad weather and so West Cork Music also has to announce some programme changes on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 June. The work they were due to play in the Opening concert - Brahms' Quartet No. 1 in C minor - will now be performed by Cuarteto Casals. Cuarteto Casals will now be playing their programme of Mozart and Schubert at the coffee concert on Saturday 29 June. The Jupiter Quartet will now be playing in the coffee concert on Sunday 30 June instead - their programme will be works by Haydn, Wolf and Dvorak.

West Cork Music apologises for any inconvenience and disappointment. If you have tickets for these events and would like to change them tickets for another concert, you can should ring the box office on +353 (0) 27 52788.
