In the world of events and festivals, repetition is the surest sign of success. The inaugural Kilkenny TradFest was held last year and was so well received it's back for a second turn. Craic and ceol will once again engulf the city this St. Patrick's Weekend and revelers can get set for live music, music and dance workshops, family activities and much more.

To demonstrate the calibre of the festival, you need look no further than the opening night. Legendary trad musicians, Kila will kick off the festival with a free gig on the Parade. Sharon Shannon will play a concert on Saturday, March 15th with Alan Connor, Dervish play the City Library on St. Patrick's Day itself and a host of other masterful musicians, like Andy Irvine, Beginish and The Voice Squad, will have guests' toes aching from the tapping they are sure to be doing all weekend long.

The super range of activities will suit trad fans of all ages; there's the unique Celtic Shield Making Workshop for children - inspired by the the award-winning film The Secret of Kells - fun for the whole family with the Hooley in the Junction, sean nós dancing and traditional musical instrument workshops and of course the St. Patrick's Day Parade to name but a few.

There's no better way to celebrate the feast of Ireland's patron saint than this festival steeped in Irish culture and tradition.
