All forms of what the Kilkenny Roots and Rhythm Festival like to call Americana - country, folk, blues, bluegrass, rockabilly, cajun - are well represented over the four days.

The Kilkenny Rhythm and Roots Festival has attracted some of the finest names in the Americana canon since its inauguration in 1998. The list is incredibly long and distinguished - acts like Calexico, Giant Sand, Ryan Adams, Alejandro Escovedo, Mark Eitzel, Guy Clark, Chuck Prophet, Ray LaMontagne, Richmond Fontaine, Rodney Crowell and just some of the big names who have graced the Marble City Mardi Gras.

From midday to midnight audiences can amble through the medieval streets of Kilkenny, sampling the huge range of music that will be on offer in more than thirty venues.

This year's festival highlights include Hamell on Trial, The Webb Sisters, John Blek & The Rats, Barry McCormack, Hidden Highways, Jimmy MacCarthy, Sturgill Simpson, Aoife O'Donovan, Lyla Foy, My Darling Clementine, Morgan O'Kane, John Doe, Mark Mulcahy and Barrence Whitfield & The Savages.

There’s a mixture of old and new acts incorporated in over 80 ticketed and free shows and all styles will be catered for, from swing to bluegrass, rockabilly to cajun, folk and the blues.
