The Indie-Pendence Festival will again take over Mitchelstown, Co. Cork for the August bank holiday weekend allowing up and coming independent Irish acts to play alongside recognised headliners outside the usual indie cliques. The natural amphitheatrical venue allows everyone from die-hard indie kids to sing-along music fans to enjoy the quality acts on show and all the facilities the town has to offer. Indie-Pendence started out as Ireland's only free independent music festival and has gone from strength to strength since its debut in 2006, and excellent sophomore offering in 2007. The 2008 Indie-Pendence festival will run this August Bank Holiday weekend in the same format as past years. The line-up for Ireland's only free independent music festival is now complete on the main stage but more additional gigs will be added in the coming weeks. The 2008 lineup will consist of performances by Gemma Hayes, Cathy Davey, The Blizzards, The Kinetiks, The Chapters, Fight Like Apes, Ham Sandwich and many, many more. The festival kicks off on the 1st of August and runs until the 3rd.
