In an inspired performance, Donncha O’Dea portrays more than 40 characters in a work that explores the will to survive. "It seems to me you're an impossibility; you shouldn't even exist!" exclaims, the young writer to the play's leading lady Charlotte von Mahlsdorf. Charlotte was a 65year old transvestite who lived in Berlin. She ran an East German furniture museum and became infamous for her underground alternative parties and her loyalty to those who were most vulnerable during troubling times. The question of how Charlotte survived both the Nazi and the Stasi regimes despite her libertine manners and dress sense baffled all.
