Following the recent success of Pygmalion and Major Barbara, we continue our celebration of one of Ireland’s greatest writers. This summer we present our first ever production of Shaw’s zany period drama, Heartbreak House.

On the brink of World War 1, Captain Shotover’s eccentric family host a party in their grand country house. The madcap weekend spirals towards an explosive climax as the oblivious guests indulge in a masquerade of deceit.
Shaw’s unmistakable wit and stinging observations are to the fore in this satirical look at British high society sliding towards disaster.

Roisín McBrinn (No Escape, Perve) makes her directorial debut on the Abbey stage for our first ever production of Heartbreak House.

Heartbreak House will feature strobe lighting and pyrotechnics.
