The 8th annual Hard Working Class Heroes festival again takes to the various clubs, bars and (if you're lucky enough) street corners of Dublin on the 7th, 8th and 9th of October. HWCH is one of Ireland's more unique festivals, in that it takes the limelight away from the bands whose names are already well-established and fixes it firmly on those who are yet to be household names. The festival can lay claim to having unearthed some gems over the course of its history, with previous festivals having featured such luminaries as The Immediate, Cathy Davey, Fred, Valerie Francis and Villagers. In keeping with the HWCH's tradition of welcoming back some performers who've since gone on to make an impact on the Irish musical landscape, this year will see the triumphant return of Heathers and Halves. Tickets for the weekend will set you back €45, or nightly tickets are €20 apiece. The majority of performances will be taking place at The Button Factory, The Mercantile, The Grand Social, Sweeney's, Twisted Pepper and The Workman's Club.
