Guth Gafa, The Seventh, will take place in two locations between the 16th and 19th May 2013. The hub of the 7th International Documentary Festival and main screening venues will be in Malin village, and a series of satellite film events will be held in Derry. With a 6 year track record attracting the newest and best award-winning international and Irish documentary films to the North-West, Guth Gafa explores themes of human rights, social issues and the environment.

Documentaries screened arouse great debate and discussion, and Guth Gafa’s trademark of inviting every film director from wherever in the world to the North-West to present their films and discuss them with the audiences, makes the festival a unique experience for film lovers. There are few film festivals in Europe quite like Guth Gafa.

For a week every year, a village on the edge of Europe is transformed into an intimate but intense hotbed of documentary film. With famiily events and workshops for young people running in parallel, and in 2013, satelite screenings and film events in Derry, the 7th Guth Gafa promises to be a great Gathering event. Guth Gafa is proudly presented with the support of Derry-Londonderry City of Culture 2013, the Arts Council of Ireland, Inishowen Partnership LEADER programme and Bórd Scannán na hÉireann/The Irish Film Board.
