The competition led by UCD Research and The National Film School, Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design & Technology (IADT), and supported by Science Foundation Ireland, is aimed at linking scientists and student filmmakers together to create new Irish science films. In 2013 we have two animations, one documentary and a science fiction film in competition for the UCDSCIEX Prize.
GE FOCUS FORWARD - Short Films, Big Ideas, a partnership between GE and cinelan, is a series of 30 three-minute nonfiction films, inspired by GE’s vision of innovative people being the catalyst for world change. Produced by leading documentary filmmakers, the films explore the incredible human power of ideas and invention and are screening at prestigious film festivals globally, followed by day-and-date distribution online to millions of viewers. this specially curated programme for UCD Science Expression showcases some of the worlds best documentary filmmakers responses to the challange of making three-minute films that would mark the ways in which creative ingenuity in science, medicine, and the arts can have a significant, positive impact on humanity.
