The Galway Sessions 2013 is a week-long event which taps into and showcases the unique and vibrant culture and heritage of Galway and its environs. Galway is home to a great many of Ireland's top traditional & folk acts that travel the globe widely performing top class traditional music.

The sessions provide an opportunity for music lovers to come to Galway and see these musicians perform in natural and intimate settings in particular as part of the pub trail. Sessions take place in over 12 venues city-wide commencing early afternoon and continuing into the wee hours. The pubs in the session trail are traditional in the best sense of the word and are known worldwide for the quality of their music and their special atmosphere.

The festival also invites musicians to come along and join in. The Sessions also affords the opportunity to invite some of the finest exponents of related folk cultures from Scotland, England and North America. These acts generally feature in the festivals late evening concert and recital series and allow us to explore and experience the special relationship Ireland has with these cultures. The festival commences each day with a spectacular and colourful parade featuring pipe bands and highland dancing from Scotland followed by lively and hilarious street entertainment in Galway's renowned Latin Quarter. This action packed week includes over 100 events and over 90 are free.
