Friars' Gate Literary Weekend - with Donal Ryan, Rita Ann Higgins, John W. Sexton, Gordon Snell and more will take place from Thursday 24th - Sunday 27th April. This intimate weekend will features speakers, workshops, book launches, theatre and an open mic night.

The weekend opens on Thursday with the launch of Ellipses, the first anthology to be written by the Friar's Gate Writers Group. The group, led by Sheila Quealey undertake regular advanced creative writing classes at Friars' Gate. The launch will be followed by an Open Mic Night - an opportunity for all new and established writers to share their work in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

On Friday, Donal Ryan, author of the acclaimed The Spinning Heart and The Thing About December returns to Kilmallock while on Saturday there will be an evening of poetry with Rita Ann Higgins and John W. Sexton. On Saturday afternoon children's author Gordon Snell will delight the little ones with a free reading session from some of his best loved books.

The weekend concludes with Conversations Uncovered as the Friars' Gate Writers Group make their first exciting foray into writing for the stage through their collaboration with Theatre Artist in Residence, John Sheehy.
