There's lots on up and down the country this weekend. We've picked out a few of the highlights that you can head along to, with options for both good and bad weather.

Vodafone Comedy Festival
US comedy legend Bill Burr is amongst those coming to the Iveagh Gardens for a weekend of laughs. There are four different stages at the central Dublin venue, with acts to cater for every sense of humour. Irish comedians on the bill include Al Porter, David O'Doherty, Des Bishop and viral internet stars Foil, Arms and Hog.

GAZE Film Festival
The Gaze International LGBT Film Festival returns to the Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield for a weekend of movies, highlighting stories about, and told by, the LGBT community. There's a mix of documentary, fiction, feature length and short films, including Viva, directed by Paddy Breathnach and written by Mark O'Halloran. As well as the screenings, there will be panel discussions during the day, and after parties each night.
July 28th - August 1st

The Beatyard
The Beatyard is a family friendly festival taking place in Dun Laoghaire harbour, which offers music, food and a kids' activity area. Artists performing include Boney M, George Clinton, Lee Scratch Perry, Rubberbandits and Stomptown Brass. 3FE, Bread and Bones, Lagunitas and more will be providing refreshments. In addition to the kids' area, there's a games/ sports area, a market and a series of talks on design, tech and culture. It's the perfect excuse to get out and enjoy the sea air.
July 30th - 31st

Spraoi
Spraoi is Waterford's annual street arts festival, which sees dozens of street performers descend on the city for the weekend. The highlight of the festival is the Sunday night parade, featuring floats and pyrotechnics travelling through the streets from 9.30pm. There are also two live music stages, marching bands and open air tango dancing. Plenty of entertainment, and suitable for the whole family.
July 29th - 31st

Enniscorthy Rockin Food Festival
Two Wexford festivals combined forces to create a larger festival that will take over the town of Enniscorthy for the bank holiday weekend. On the rock side, you have 1950s rock 'n' roll classics being played on the main festival stage and a music; on the food side, there's a craft food and beers market in the town centre and live cookery demonstrations. To finish off the day, Brooklyn and Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be screened in the Market Square from 9.30pm each evening.
