There’s another extra long weekend on the horizon, so there’s no better time to start planning how to spend yours. Here’s four of our favourite festivals taking place this August Bank Holiday Weekend:

Galway Horse Racing Festival: 29th July - 4th August 2013
The Galway Races is a Horse-racing festival that takes place for a week starting on the last Monday in July. The races are held at Ballybrit race course and are the only seven-day race meeting in Ireland. The main days of the festival are on Wednesday, when the Galway Plate is held and Thursday when the Galway Hurdle and Ladies' Day take place. Read more.

Waterford Spraoi Festival: 2nd - 4th August 2013
Spraoi Festival is Ireland's specialist street theatre and spectacle event. It presents over 200 street theatre and music performances in three days and most events are free at this family-friendly event. The festival features street performers from around the world and there is something to do and see by day and night. Spraoi is the Irish word for fun and celebration and the city's people take to its streets and squares in an exciting exhibition of contemporary street culture. Read more.

Castlepalooza Music and Arts Festival: 2nd - 4th August
Castlepalooza is a theatre day musical and arts festival, set in Charleville Castle, Tullamore, Co. Offaly. From the 2nd - 4th August this year, the grounds of Charleville Castle will be transformed into a wooded wonderland where you can expect great music, merriment, magic, madness and mind-blowing memories.
