This summer, the National Concert Hall continues its highly acclaimed ESB BEO Celtic Music Festival from 16-23 August 2008. Opening the festival on Saturday 16 August at 8pm is singer-songwriter Paddy Casey who will perform his first solo gig in Dublin at the National Concert Hall after his highly successful American Tour this year. Critically acclaimed as one of the greatest singer-songwriters of his generation, Damien Dempsey will perform on Saturday 23 August, top and tailing a jam-packed festival of evening and lunchtime concerts. The festival, sponsored by ESB, now in its 9th year also features Celtic duo Buille and the great Scottish salsa band 'Salsa Celtica', Irish fiddle player of Riverdance fame, Zoe Conway with an 80-strong Traditional Instruments Orchestra and many more. This year's festival also plays host to a series of lunchtime concerts featuring White Raven on Wednesday 20 August at 1.05pm; a vocal trio bringing traditional Irish song into the realm of three-part harmony with Gerry O'Connor, fiddle. Well-known Irish fiddle player Zoe Conway joins the 80-strong Meitheal Traditional Orchestra on Thursday 21st August 1.05pm and this is sure to be amongst the highlights of the festival. The interactive concert is the ideal opportunity for participants to get involved by getting on their feet to dance to reels, jigs and polkas.
