A 25-hour movie marathon? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within Cineworld Dublin?

You may have heard that our Movies Editor, Brian Lloyd, is going to be watching up to 10 classic films on screen in Cineworld Dublin over a 25 hour period this Friday, and you heard correct! And not only that, he'll be joined by fellow movie lovers who are all taking on the mammoth task to raise funds for Focus Ireland.

Why 25 hours you ask? Because we're turning 25 years old this year, that's why. We're even older than Google, although we don't like to think of ourselves as old. More like your favourite cousin who went away on Erasmus and came back with a masters in being sound (but no actual MA). Something like that.

If you're wondering how you can get involved with Cinemathon, all you need to do is go to the entertainment.ie Facebook page and tune in there any time from 11am on Friday April 29th until midday on Saturday April 30th to catch up on everything direct from the cinema screen.

There’ll be livestreams and video shorts with some celebrity guests, quizzes and even chat with the audience between the movies. You can cheer on the Cinemathoners and even win prizes when dipping into the event virtually!

And if you want to donate to Focus Ireland now, during or after the cinemathon, you can do so through the donate button at entertainment.ie/cinemathon.

At least one family became homeless every day in Ireland last year. Donate now and help ease the homelessness crisis in Ireland.
