One of Dublin’s firm favourites is spreading its wings to Rathmines.

Due to open tomorrow afternoon, Elephant & Castle's second branch will be located on the corner of Rathmines Road and Castlewood Avenue.

You'll now have another location to venture to, to get your fluffy omelettes, buttermilk pancakes, and those crispy spicy wings. The new 110 seater restaurant is spacious and bright, with large windows looking out onto buzzing Rathmines.

Early 2019 will also see an expansion of the restaurant even further afield too; Elephant & Castle is on its way into Monkstown Village. Be sure to keep an eye out for another announcement from the restaurant again quite soon.

The story of founder George Schwartz is quite an interesting one if you haven't already heard it. Having escaped a war torn Germany, Schwartz headed to London where he passed the famous tube station every day. He soon relocated to New York city, where he decided to open a place he would like to eat every day. And thus, Elephant & Castle became a New York classic within a few short years.

Dublin's Elephant & Castle opened its doors in January 1989, after chef Liz Mee came home to Ireland. Schwartz followed her, where they discovered that the desolate Temple Bar area at the time was the perfect location for their next venture.

Elephant & Castle Rathmines will be open on weekdays for lunch and dinner, and on weekends they will also serve brunch. Bookings are available for groups of 6 or more.
