Would you like to become a creator at this year's Electric Picnic?

Electric Picnic has teamed up with Channel 4's Will Hardie to launch this year’s Trailer Park competition.

What is it?

Electric Picnic are calling all you budding artists, architects, and creators of all sorts to let their creative hair down to build your own conceptual caravan for their Trailer Park competition.

They want you to turn a caravan (or something with wheels that can come and go) into something implausibly wonderful. And then the lovely people at EP will give it a home in Trailer Park, the mobile-tropolis at the centre of the festival.

Sounds cool, what do I have to do?

Up to 10 grants of up to €2000 are being offered for designing, building and presenting your own conceptual caravans at Electric Picnic.

Your design proposals will be read by the festival's judging panel, and they'll choose the best ideas to go forward. If your design is successful, EP will work with you to bring your designs to life.

The festival has given out over 60 grants to Irish makers in the past few years, and some incredible ideas have materialised. So, if all goes according to plan and you make it through, you and a team of friends will host the creation at Electric Picnic.

When's the deadline?

You only have about nine weeks to get your entries in, as the deadline is Monday, April 15th.

I'm in! How do I apply?

Head over to Electric Picnic's website for more information, and how to apply online.

The judging panel will be led by Will Hardie, the master craftsman behind 'Channel 4s Amazing Spaces' and 'Shed of the Year.' He will be joined by Roz and Hugo Jellett (the creative directors of 'Trailer Park'to choose the best ideas and work with them to bring the wacky designs into being.

Some likely questions about the competition

When will I know if I’ve been awarded a grant?

Most final decisions will be made by April 25th.

What if I have an idea, but not a caravan?

We have access to a very limited number of caravans and vehicles that can be made available, but these will remain the property of Trailer Park after the festival. We thoroughly advise that you go in search of your own caravan - the country is full of them, often people will be delighted for you to take them away, and we prefer to see older caravans being remodelled. Those who provide their own caravan/vehicle will retain ownership of their caravan project at the conclusion of the event.

When does the complete piece need to be delivered or collected?

Your caravan must be in position by the 20th August in Electric Picnic. Note that further work on the caravan can be completed onsite, but the caravan itself MUST be available for positioning onsite on that date.
