Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival is a fantastic annual fun-filled family festival with music, drama, dance, heritage events, food & craft markets, country sports and more! Enjoy heritage trails, genealogy advice and historical tours which showcase the rich heritage of the greater Dunshaughlin area. Child-centric activities, from the petting farm, to science and music workshops and the arts and crafts tent cater to kids of all ages. Try on a helmet during the local fire-fighter demonstrations; watch the farrier shoe a horse in the local forge; experience traditional basket weaving and pottery making as well as the vintage cars and tractors on display. Get your creative juices flowing and enter the hugely successful song-writing competition, or build a go-kart and enter the hilarious annual Soap Box Derby.
This year, why not experience what Dunshaughlin community theatre has to offer or cheer on your favourite in the sheep race. Battle your way through the annual musical chairs event or wander through the food and craft markets on display. Get the kids involved in the hilariously spooky ghost tour and remember to check out the popular opening night concert. In its inaugural year of 2011, Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival won a Meath Tourism & Business award and a Dunshaughlin Community award. The event has also been nominated for several awards after the 2012 festival. Just 30 minutes by bus or car from Dublin city centre and within an hour's drive of Kildare, Cavan, Monaghan, Louth and Westmeath, Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival 2014 is a fantastic day out or weekend away.
