The Trinity College Dublin Shakespeare Festival is back, as for one week only Dublin’s idyllic parks, beautiful cultural monuments and schools will become a playground for the works of William Shakespeare.
Following on from the massive success of the inaugural festival last year, this year will see over 45 free performances around the city in locations such as St. Stephens Green, the Irish Botanical Gardens and Christchurch Cathedral, hourly from 12pm -5pm every day. And headlining these unique one-off performances, every night at 7.30pm will be the GB Theatre Company’s production of As You Like It which will take place in a specially constructed 275-seater outdoor arena in the front square of Trinity College in one of the most groundbreaking events in the colleges long history.

Each day will also feature alternative events at 6.15pm including lectures, comedic performances and live music, all inspired by the work of the bard. The festival will also spill out into 12 different schools in Dublin with performances and workshops taking place in each of them. Drawing in performers from Galway to Belfast, the ever-expanding festival is truly a national event, with Dublin operating as its main stage and over 10,000 expected to attend.

The week is set to be one of the most unmissable events of the year and whether a seasoned Shakespeare-goer or whether you’ve never seen a performance or read a single sonnet there is something for everyone, and something that will stay with you forever.
