Destination Sport Mullingar - The Gathering 2013 will be a fun for all festival of sport, promoting participation in sport, providing great spectator opportunities, a competitive edge as necessary and organised on street festivities promoting Mullingar to maximum effect.
From the novice cyclist to the international competitor at weightlifting, or teams from abroad coming to participate or compete, there will be many opportunities for competition, fun and games, relaxation and sightseeing throughout the weeklong festival.
Mullingar has a rich sporting history and the town has produced many distinguished sports men and women, including Olympic Silver Medal winning boxer John Joe Nevin. This festival of sport offers an opportunity to show off the town's sporting talent and will hopefully encourage more people to become involved in sporting activity. As part of the Gathering 2013, Destination Sport Mullingar activities will be tailored as necessary so as to invite interest and attendances from people abroad either individuals, teams, families or friends to compete in specially organised events in their honour.
